K Anderson brings us a wonderfully emotional coming of age sci fi adventure with The Boy with the Horns! Young Maverick Kane has crash landed on the alien world of Pocme. Having found a kind family to raise him, Maverick now seeks acceptance with the rest of the reluctant alien society as he runs across adventures in his quest to become a starship captain. I loved this atypical sci fi plot, especially in the way Anderson made the characters and the emotions the main focus! Pocme and its people felt real, and I really loved Maverick as he overcame the challenges of being an orphan and a foreigner on a strange world. This book is a fantastic sci fi novel, but if you also love a good emotional drama or young adult coming of age story, definitely come crash with The Boy with the Horns!
