Mara Lynn Johnstone (and several other authors) rework classic myths into fresh new takes on many of the classics like the Greek gods or Beowulf with the short story anthology Shatterlore: Myths of Past and Future! This collection of short stories span a variety of myths, spinning them on their head, with great additions like the Greek gods being digital, or Beowulf as a noir detective (loved it!), or Narcissus being a vampire longing for a reflection. Johnstone and the other authors truly captured the heart of the original myths while spinning them in some fun (and truly original) directions! I’ve been on a mythology kick as of late and this collection of stories really hit the spot with its creative out-of-the-box thinking and fun variety of mythologies from across the globe. If you love mythology, and especially books that spin those myths into something new and interesting, definitely come reinvigorate your inner Homer with Shatterlore!
