Kestrel

Kyle Joseph

Kyle Joseph drops us into a tense plot of intrigue between two opposing countries and the princess trapped between them with Kestrel!  In an act of rebellion, Princess Mira has abdicated from Engla and sets out for neighboring Scotia.  But no journey ever worth telling runs smooth, and Mira soon finds herself embroiled in a dangerous vigilante’s plot.  Joseph cakes on many wonderful layers of intrigue with Kestrel and I loved picking through them!  This is a book of legacies colliding on top of the powder keg of two countries just beginning to industrialize, and it was fascinating to see the greater conflict that Joseph is clearly building towards.  If you’re looking for a tense adventure set at a turbulent time where the old Medieval-style world is slipping into the realm of machinery and industry, definitely come clash with Kestrel!
