Kakistocracy

Alex Shvartsman

Conrad Brent returns to battle new magical threats in Alex Shvartsman’s wacky and action packed Kakistocracy!  The Watch protects magic users in Brooklyn, but when a totalitarian government arises in City Hall, it sets Conrad Brent on a crash course with two ancient societies.  Shvartsman manages to pack all the humor and charm of the first one into the sequel, while also pulling Conrad and crew in new directions.  I loved the addition of interdimensional fae assassins, and the necromancer on the rocks was endless fun!  I love the mystery of this series and the way its story can be intriguing while also never taking itself too seriously.  If you’re looking for some fantasy set in the real world that’s at all times funny, filled with fascinating lore, and popping with action, definitely come take on the Kakistocracy!
