Hugh Fritz brings us a really unique spin on a crime thriller packed with mystical beings like Genies with Made to be Broken! Flarence is a Genie that doesn’t really like to take orders, but he is stretched to his limits as he encounters Darren, a criminal looking to leave that life behind. Now the two must team up if either of them hope to survive the seedy criminal underbelly of the city being manipulated by a rogue Genie. Fritz captures everything I love about vigilante crime thrillers and then throws in an awesome spin on Genies in a way that blends for a perfect entertaining mix! Both Flarence and Darren were deep characters that were fun to follow, and the addition of Soleil, a nice passive guy who doesn’t want to get mixed up in everything, was just a lot of fun! This is an interesting twisting narrative that is part crime thriller, part urban fantasy, and part superhero origin story that is all around a blast you shouldn’t miss!
