The Periodic Table of Monsters

Battle the forces of the Antimatter Alchemist, collect monsters, and enhance powerful abilities in this exciting new card game from bestselling author Joshua Grant!

Rules

Players: 2-4

Cards: 126

Objective:

Use Resources and Elemon abilities to reduce your opponent’s health to zero while protecting your own health.

Set Up:

  • Place decks of shuffled Elemon, Resources, and Health cards face down between players

  • Each player draws 3 Elemon cards and places them face up in front of them

  • If a Molecular Fusion or Muonimon is drawn, place them face up in the space between players

  • Each player draws 10 Health cards and places them face up in front of them (this is your health)

  • Each player draws 5 Resource cards and places them in their hand (don’t let your opponent see them!)

  • The player with the Elemon that is closest to 1 goes first

Turn Guide:

  • Draw 3 Resource cards and place them in your hand

  • Play up to 2 cards from your hand (you don’t have to play any if you don’t want to)

  • To play Resource cards, lay them face up in front of you in your Resource Pile

  • Use the required number of Resources to activate Elemon abilities as indicated on the Elemon’s card (you may only use Resources from your Resource Pile, not your hand!)

  • Resource cards cannot be split (so an Electron x3 can’t break up and be used for more than one ability or more than one Elemon)

  • Discard Resources once used.  Reshuffle into deck once deck is depleted.

  • Carry out all available actions (or none if you decide).  Be aware, your opponent may have abilities they can activate during your turn to block your actions.

  • You may use Resource blocking cards or Elemon abilities to block your opponent on their turn, but ONLY if you’ve placed the necessary cards in your Resource Pile (you may not play them from your hand)

  • If you have more than 7 cards in your hand at the end of your turn, discard until you only have 7 cards in your hand (there is no limit on your Resource Pile).

  • Your turn ends.  It is now your opponent’s turn.

Special Elemon:

  • There are two types of Special Elemon (Molecular Fusions and Muonimon)

  • If a Special Elemon is drawn, place it face up in the middle between players.  If a Special Elemon is already there, place the new Elemon on top of it, replacing it.

  • From now on, players will draw one Resource card at the beginning of their turn and place it next to the Special Elemon.

  • If a Resource other than an Electron or Neutron is drawn, discard it and continue your turn without drawing a new Resource for the Special Elemon

  • The player that fills the Special Elemon’s Resource requirement at the beginning of their turn activates its ability and then discards the spent Resources.

  • If both players lose all their Health to a Special Elemon at the same time, the player with the most Resources in their Resource Pile wins.
