Reviewers
Reviewer Contest Rules
-
The Reviewer that has submitted the most honest reviews on The Reef tab of Diabolic Shrimp, either positive or negative, by May 1st each year will receive a cash prize of $25 (USD) and a Shrimpy Award!
-
Winners will be announced on Diabolic Shrimp’s live Shrimpy Award show on May 1st (viewable on Diabolic Shrimp’s Youtube channel).
-
Negative reviews will be uploaded (we encourage honesty at Diabolic Shrimp), but overly harsh, vulgar, hateful, or targeted attack reviews will not be posted or counted towards the contest.
-
Short reviews are okay, but generic or one word reviews will not be counted towards the contest (ex: ‘good’ or ‘interesting book’)
-
You may review the same author multiple times and have your review counted. You may, however, only review the same book once.
-
You may use a review for a book that you posted on another site and have it counted on Diabolic Shrimp. However, only reviews posted on Diabolic Shrimp will be counted towards Diabolic Shrimp’s contest (so reviews on other sites will only be counted if you transfer them to Diabolic Shrimp and you are the author of that review)
-
Whether or not a review is posted or counted towards the contest is entirely up to Diabolic Shrimp, and is entirely subjective.
-
Have some fun! You’re helping authors and readers connect, so I truly appreciate you!
Reviewer Submission Guidelines
-
In order to review on Diabolic Shrimp and have your review counted towards the contest, you must be a member of Diabolic Shrimp’s review readers. This is entirely free, and you are not required to review books or be on a timeline. To join, simply go to the Join tab and let me know that you’re a reader!
-
To post a review, click on an author’s name on The Reef page of Diabolic Shrimp. Scroll down and click on a book. Then post your review in the Comments section of that page.
-
I review each review personally to ensure it follows our community guidelines (and to count it towards the contest). The review may take up to two weeks to be posted after you’ve submitted.
-
Be sure to include your name when posting the review so I can count your review for the contest!
-
Again, negative reviews are okay, but overly harsh, vulgar, hateful, or targeted attack reviews will not be posted or counted.

Short Literature Submission Guidelines
-
Stories, Poems, and Book Chapters of all genres are accepted!
-
You must buy one of my (Josh Grant’s) books in order to submit. Links and descriptions are located on the My Books tab above. You may wait until I’ve received your story before purchasing a book. Purchasing one book qualifies you for all future Shrimpy Award Contests (you do not have to buy a new book every year)! You do not have to send proof of purchase as Diabolic Shrimp is a community built on trust and kindness!
-
If you purchased one of my books in the past, that covers your submission purchase here! Thank you for your kindness!
-
Submissions must be shorter than 20 pages (5,000 words). If you slightly go over, that’s okay, but if you start to stray into the realm of 23 pages, the submission will be disqualified.
-
There is no minimal word or page requirement.
-
.Doc, .Docx, and .pdf files are all accepted.
-
All submissions must be in English.
-
You must own the material you submit.
-
Your submission carries over each year to the following year’s contest, even if it didn’t win in a prior contest!
-
You may withdraw or change your submission at any time and it will be considered. Any submissions after April 1st will be considered for the following year.
-
You may only have one entry to the contest (you may change this entry at any time). If you’d like to have multiple entries at one time, you must purchase one of my (Josh Grant’s) books for each additional entry (so 2 entries would mean buying two books, 3 would be three books, etc).

Send your full name, an e-mail I can reach you at, and your attached submission to the e-mail address I spoke to you through when you joined Diabolic Shrimp. If you haven’t joined the site or don’t remember the e-mail, send me a message on the Contact page and I’ll reach out to you! Sorry for the minor hassle, I just have to make sure you’re a real human and not a Terminator!
