I’m a full-time student, part-time author and occasional philosopher. My first novel, The Plight of a People, is a fantasy epic that is split into three separate stories about one group’s unending struggle to survive. Its sequel, The Agony of an Age, is the one I’m putting forward for a possible review. This second book is an intricate tale of power, warfare, and torment. It continues the saga set up in its predecessor with three more riveting stories, spanning nearly three centuries in all. Each story has its own characters and events, but they are all united in their examinations of war, misery and the strength of the human spirit. My new novel is filled to the brim with pressing issues, political intrigue and personal perseverance, and I do dearly hope you’ll all consider it.

Shirley Battie

I have published 5 books, the latest ‘CALLING EARTH’ is a fictional story wrapped around well-researched facts. SUPERPOWERS FIGHT FOR DOMINION OVER PLANET EARTH This is a compelling and exciting new novel which underscores the necessity of spiritual growth and awareness to save the human race. It involves awakening into the bigger picture and clearly indicates that we need to take responsibility for ourselves and for our home planet. You will be riveted by the notion that the events in the story are based on facts. This book reveals details of secret agendas and cosmic planet raiders for a takeover of Earth. Will we be allowed to join our galactic family, or will we destroy our home planet? Kate and her father are in danger from secret powers as they try to alert the public.

Although a science-fiction thriller, it has a much deeper message. Shirley Battie may have put the cat among the pigeons regarding our knowledge of what goes on in space and within governments. It asks us to consider that we are not alone in the Universe, but that of world species would love to live on our beautiful planet too. Perhaps it is this, which will ultimately bring us to our senses and ensure that we protect Mother Earth, for our own sakes.

Jean Baxter

Justin Bedi

“Sports Are Worth How Much!? And Other Questions in Pro Sports, Answered (Kind Of)” takes analytical and opinionated looks at the professional sports industry in the U.S. and Canada, and offers answers to the following debates: Should taxpayers help fund sports arenas? Do sports teams have any economic impact on their local communities? Why are some sports more popular than others? And what’s the big deal with fantasy sports? I use economics to tackle many of the debates, but the book is also filled with plenty of bad jokes and personal anecdotes to keep it fun.

Justin Bedi is a sports writer living in Canada. He has been a successful civil servant, economic policy analyst, and opinions writer. He holds a Master’s degree in International Trade from the University of Saskatchewan’s Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Journalism from the University of Victoria. His writing and empirical work has appeared in newspapers, sports websites, and other media outlets across the U.S. and Canada. He is considered by many to be classically handsome.

Unafraid to delve into subjects other authors would happily pass up, Sean Benham’s work trends towards the bizarre while remaining deeply personal. He has a knack for creating alternate worlds that mirror our own in the most unfortunate ways, as well as the memorable characters that inhabit them. His work is grim but hopeful, thought-provoking and funny. It’s usually a little bit gross, too. When he’s not writing, Sean Benham is an entertainment industry professional who has worked as an art director, graphic animator, writer and producer on everything from Emmy award-winning children’s television programming to heavy metal music videos. He lives with his wife in Toronto.

Mark Bierman

Tragedy… heartache… how much more can Tyler Montgomery and John Webster take? This missions trip, the “healing” one, has only added fresh layers of pain. Construction of an orphanage in Haiti’s northwest… yes. But a doomed rescue operation, human traffickers, human anomalies, extreme personal danger… risk of death? They hadn’t signed up for those.

Born and raised on a farm near Brockville, Ontario, Mark Bierman’s childhood consisted of chores, riding horses, snowmobile races across open fields, fishing trips to a local lake, and many other outdoor adventures. He was also an avid reader of both fiction and non. Transitioning towards adulthood also meant moving from the farm and into large urban areas that introduced this “country boy” to life in the big cities. Drawing on his many experiences as a private investigator and later a Correctional Officer, Mark combines his unique experiences and imagination to create his stories and characters.

James Wallace Birch

Existentialist quest, paranoid mystery, radical counterculture expose, witty social commentary, and finger to the man: Discontents is a tour de force! A story that almost didn’t get told: In January 2011, Emory Walden, one of the most notorious political dissidents and graffiti artists hunted by authorities throughout the District of Columbia disappeared. Half a year later, James Wallace Birch, an old high school friend, received a letter from Emory. James later published Discontents for Emory. It is a Emory’s riveting first-hand account that puts to rest the speculation surrounding his disappearance. In it, we see a rare account of a man struggling against amnesia to uncover the nebulous forces that sought to bring him down.

Baylor Blackwell is a hobbyist author with aspirations to branch out creatively in all manner of directions. His debut series is The Utopian Saga, a chronicle of two girls’ hard journey across a destroyed land in search of a purpose.

Mat Blackwell

Mat Blackwell is a multi-award-winning writer and reclusive bearded troglodyte. He has written jokes for performers as varied as Waleed Aly, Paul McDermott, Corinne Grant, Amanda Keller, Sammy J, Wil Anderson, and Barry Humphries. He also co-created and co-wrote the hilariously grotesque sharehouse-convict-black-comedy BRUCE (brucetheseries.com), which was the 3rd-most awarded webseries of 2017. When he’s not cranking out the gags for TV, or penning satirical novels for discerning adults, Mat writes philosophical essays on music, art, humour, and morality. BEEF is a contemporary satire about love, meat, and infidelity, set in an Australia of the incredibly-near future. It is a multi-generational tale of unseen consequences, and the pressures of legacy. But most of all, it’s the tale of an awkward middle-aged sociophobe’s attempts to not have an affair with a wildly attractive psychic, who insists they are going to end up together, like it or not, because “it’s destiny”.

William Blackwell

William Blackwell studied journalism at Calgary’s Mount Royal University and English literature at Vancouver’s University of British Columbia. He worked as a print journalist for many years before becoming an author. He has written over seventeen novels, mainly in the horror genre. Currently living on an acreage in Prince Edward Island, Blackwell loves to travel and write dark fiction. Blackwell’s newest release is horror novel Freaky Franky, a dark tale about the terrifying consequences of worshiping Saint Death (or Santa Muerte) with evil intentions.

I am a Welsh girl currently living in sunny Turkey 🙂 I started writing a number of years ago, and especially love the research aspect of my historical books. Vikings; Taken is the first in the ‘Great Heathen Army’ series, although it can be read as a stand-alone. It follows the lives of Rosfrith Guader, a mistress of Dunwich Fortress in East Angles, and Ubba Ragnarsson, Viking Chieftain of Ranaricii.

Gabriel Blake

Born in South-East London, I was a power cut baby of the early 70s. I’d wanted to write stories ever since I read ‘Salem’s Lot by Stephen King and Flowers in the Attic by Virginia Andrews when I was around 11 years old, but life had other ideas for me. Circumstances led me to leave school when I turned 15 to start labouring and painting. I remained in the construction industry for many years after, learning various trades. Writing looked as though it had become one of those faded dreams that would fail to materialise, but like many thoughts planted in our minds by our younger selves, it never went away. It was a long ride and wait with plenty of obstacles to overcome along the way. My debut novel took me two and a half years of writing, rewriting, and editing. I hope you’ll join me on a journey that will lead wherever my mind decides to take us.

Join me on Twitter, it would be fantastic to chat with everybody who reads my novels, and I will always do my best to reply: https://twitter.com/GabrielBlake_ View my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/GabrielBlakeAuthor/ https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/17165240.Gabriel_Blake https://www.instagram.com/gabrielblake_/?hl=en Thank you all for reading this, and of course, if you read my stories and enjoy them, it means the absolute world to me.

Jessica Bland

My name is Jessica and together with my friend, Susan George, I have written and published a children’s book called SNOT. It is a story of a girl at a very special school where knowledge is literally poured into the brain! Here is the blurb from the book. Ever feel like everything you learn at school goes in one ear and out the other? That knowledge literally drips out of your head faster than it is poured in? For Flora ‘Pea’ Brain that is actually the case! If that doesn’t sound bad enough, imagine having to contend with a horrible Headmaster who likes nothing better than dishing out detentions and dreaming up terrible, torturous methods to get rid of failing students. Will Flora survive and pass her exams, or will Headmaster Prickles (the biggest bully EVER) get his way?

Bio: I am a husband and father of six children. I have spent the past 20 years in education as a high school English teacher, coach, professional developer, and college instructor. My writing often reflects my own life experiences as well as my personal observations of the world around us.

Marília Bonelli

I’ve been writing for years, before I even had any dreams of somehow publishing books. I probably have more ideas than I can ever put to paper (I calculated, it would take longer than my lifetime). I love writing science fiction, fantasy, light-hearted mysteries, and sometimes things that are a little of each. I have parallel dimensions (In Dreams), dark forests permeated by magical creatures and a world where death isn’t an immediate end (Grace), and “fake” magicians just hiding in plain sight (Cameras Tell No Lies). The stories and their characters are usually a little bit weird, a little bit dark, and a little bit hopeful, and anyone who can relate to that probably will find a kindred spirit somewhere in those pages.

I am a science fiction author who avoided all forms of creative writing until rather late in life, when the writing bug finally caught me napping. In hindsight this should not have been a surprise; trained as a software developer, the switch from business requirement documents to speculative fiction was only a small step. I live in beautiful British Columbia with my wife, two children, and an assorted collection of pets.

My books tend to have a mixture of drama, suspense, action, and humour revolving around family dynamics between fathers and sons, uncles and nephews, and brothers. It just seems to be part of my DNA. lol All of my stories are also clean reads. I love to write strong characters—male or female, young or old—each with an undeniably vulnerable side and hidden insecurities. I don’t believe a book can have suspense and action without at least some violence but it’s all in how that violence is described; I strive to write drama without ‘melo’; and my humour contains a lot of dry wit but it’s owned within the story in that one or more character usually rolls his/her eyes or the character doling out said wit acknowledges their atypical sense of humour quite readily. I sometimes write romance but it’s typically a subplot as opposed to a genre.

The first book of The Toby Garrison Chronicles, Pride Be Damned, is currently available for free on Smashwords and most other major online retailers!

Descendants of H.G. Wells & Leonardo Da Vinci build a Time Machine based on their famous ancestors’ works. Rather than go through history eliminating evil dictators they decide they’d rather make love to the sexiest women in history instead. However, they get more than they bargained for as they get caught up in some of the most famous conspiracies of the last 3,000 years from Cleopatra to Elizabeth 1st and beyond, with Marilyn Monroe, Bridget Bardot, Jane Fonda, Princess Diana, The Kennedy’s and many more household names front and centre of some very interesting storylines. It also features a very poignant love story between Marilyn & Frank Sinatra as a core story.

The novel features lots of thrills and twists plus the author’s trade mark tasteful ultra-erotic element. Although not a comedy story it has more funny moments in just one chapter than most comedy feature films, such as when Marilyn is kidnapped through time to this Century and even struggles to get a job as an M.M look-alike! The book is full of water-cooler moments that will leave you on a high with a smile on your face.

If you are already a fan of any of the characters mentioned you’ll love this book but always remember this is Science Fiction and although some things may seem familiar they are not always as they seem. History will never be the same again!

I have a lot of hobbies – playing guitar and drums, cooking, inventing, and most recently writing science fiction. After 36 years in the environmental business I decided it was time to ease out of writing technical reports and starting writing science fiction for fun. I was going to write one book – Jump Starting the Universe. It has turned into three books, the second being The Edge of Nothing and Everything, and the third – World Eaters (in-progress and hopefully will be published in June 2017).
I have an overactive imagination and believing in the “let no story go unwritten” I’m writing a thriller titled The Obsession of Mr. Pendergrass . I’ve posted short chapters on my website –
www.jumpstartingtheuniverse.com – and on Goodreads. Ultimately, the serially released chapters will be expended and published as a full novel. Check out my author page on Facebook- John David Buchanan – and twitter @JDBuchanan. Did I mention the epic poem I’m writing? The Rune of One – to be published in the distant and unforeseeable future.

I’m old enough to remember when gas was less than $1 per gallon. When I was ten, yellow ribbons were tied around the elm trees outside my elementary school during the Iran hostage crisis, and scary pictures of the Ayatollah Khomeini were constantly on display during the evening news. Gas prices rose dramatically. It seemed clear who was at fault. Although my parents are very conservative, conservation wasn’t a dirty word in our household. When gasoline prices spiked during the hostage crisis, my family made the switch to more fuel efficient cars. I don’t recall this being some kind of political statement on my parents part. It was just a change that needed to me made. We scoured the car lots looking at the MPG ratings of all the vehicles. During my lifetime, the United States has supported the Shah of Iran, Afghan rebels, and Saddam Hussein, all to disastrous effect. Over and over again, we make dubious foreign policy decisions in the name of Middle East stability instead of preparing our nation for the inevitable instability. When Iran’s monarchy fell, the United Sates was caught unawares. Will we be any better prepared when the Saudi monarchy crumbles?

Trish Butler

Ctrl+Alt+Deleted is my first foray into a genre (let’s call it mystery from your genre list) that I love to read and watch. To say I was intimidated writing it is an understatement. I’m hoping I’ve achieved a page-turner with some in-depth characters and some diversity. Hoping the mystery part holds up too. As with my Historical Fiction Saga, the female protagonist has plenty to do. 😀

Trish Charlotte McBain, the tech consultant for Rockmond PD’s missing person team, has disappeared. She went missing after her boyfriend, Mateo Jaso, one of the team’s detectives, left their bed in the middle of the night to console a friend, whose worthless husband left her again. Sean Benson, who heads the investigation into Charlotte’s disappearance, must explore the history of Matt’s alcoholism, the unusual, straight-talking Charlotte, and their passionate and sensual relationship, leaving no stone unturned in his effort to find his teammate. No one is above suspicion, ex-lovers, estranged family members, and those who disapprove of their inter-racial relationship. Who has the most to gain by separating Charlotte from Matt? Will they find Charlotte and, if so, will the incident and the secrets uncovered forever affect her relationship with Matt? Find out in this character-driven, missing person mystery. https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin=B07H15N84Z&preview=newtab&linkCode=kpe&ref_=cm_sw_r_kb_dp_DwcRBbK7THBB0

Trish Butler is the author of the Historical Fiction saga, Redway Acres, and now a new contemporary detective series based in the fictional New Jersey town of Rockmond. Born in Norwich, in the county of Norfolk, England, Trish moved to Connecticut in the US, in 1999. Her daughter was born there two years later. Currently, she works as Communications Director for the Connecticut Family Support Network (CTFSN) a non-profit organization that helps families with children with special needs. Trish’s own daughter is on the autism spectrum. Redway Acres, which Trish calls Pride & Prejudice with horses and a healthy dollop of feminism, is set during the early 1800s in Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, UK, an area that she knows well. Over the past nearly twenty years, Trish has got to know the tri-state area well too, and hopefully enough American English terms that make the new book sound authentic. Trish always wanted to write a book and at age fifty, finally realized that dream. Three years later, at the end of 2018, Trish hopes to have five books in the Redway series published, and the first in her new series of Rockmond PD Mysteries.
